Last Patrol volunteers honored "Doc," a Cold War Army veteran in home hospice care. Doc grew up poor in South Carolina. He got the nickname “Doc” after tending to a neighbor's dog as a young man. It stuck, and following him into the military.
He served in the 28th Artillery Battalion and remembers being in Germany during the Berlin Crisis.
Family, friends, and our team rallied at a local American Legion Post to celebrate Doc's military service to our nation. We presented him an honor ceremony kit.
We salute you, Sir, as you proceed on your Last Patrol.
